Citadel’s home insurance provides cover for the building and contents in the event of loss or damage due to fire, explosion, lightning, flood, theft and other events. The building insurance covers the cost of rebuilding or repairing, including architects’ and surveyors’ fees as well as site clearance costs. All contents cover is on a new for old basis.
The company provides a Home4Loan policy that is aimed at those who have also taken out a home loan. It provides the usual range of cover for all kinds of buildings, from finished properties to those in shell form. Additionally, it has a property owner’s liability section. This covers the insured liability for third party bodily injury or for property damage that arises from the ownership of the home and the land on which it is built. Liability is currently limited to €582,500 under this section.
Discount is given on home insurance premiums for those who also take out the company’s motor insurance or life insurance, subscribe to a savings or retirement plan, or are over 55 years of age.
Citadel has some Monalisa insurance products that are designed specifically for women customers. Another rather unique feature is its ‘Citadel Eco Insurance’, which is available for both motor and home policies. Citadel claims to be the first insurer in Malta to offer discounts to policy holders who adopt environmentally friendly technology.
If your home has an installed solar water system or photovoltaic system, you qualify for a discount on your building or contents insurance, or both. Discounted quotations are provided for those with the required technology or who are thinking of installing it, which applies from the next policy renewal.
